Abstract

140,992. Murray, J. Nov. 20, 1919. Flues.-A rectangular flue block a has a substantially central elongated flue duct b arranged parallel to its edges, with a longer duct c on one or both sides to insulate the flue duct from external conditions. Similar insulating passages may be provided at each end of the flue passage. The passage c may be closed at top and bottom of the block, and have small exterior outlets. Fig. 6 shows a block for connecting the flue b' to a stove &c. pipe. The insulating passage c may also be curved to form an inlet on the same face of the block as the flue, as shown in dotted lines. Figs. 8 and 10 show sections respectively of inlet and outlet blocks for use when the insulating passage c<3> is used for ventilation purposes, Fig. 9 being a section on the inclined line shown in Fig. 10. The blocks are made of practically the same thickness as a nine-inch brick wall, of which they form part.
