Abstract

1408859 Electrolytically colouring anodized aluminium PIESSLINGER INDUSTRIE-UND BAUBEDARFS-GmbH 1 July 1974 [2 July 1973] 29130/74 Heading C7B Anodized Al or Al alloy is coloured grey electrolytically in an aqueous bath containing per litre 20-100g ZnSO 4 , 7H 2 O, 5-50g SnSO 4 and 10-100g H 2 SO 4 (with optionally 5-50g boric acid and 1-20g of an aromatic carboxylic or sulphonic acid or a polybasic carboxylic acid) at 5-30V and using A.C. at a c.d. of 0.2-1 A/dm<SP>2</SP>. The optional acid may be tartaric, malonic, oxalic, adipic, succinic, maleic, sulphoplithalic or sulphosalicylic. The bath pH may be 1-1.5. The counter-electrode may be carbon, Ni-Cr steel, Al--Zn or Sn.
