Abstract

1408632 Insulating assemblies SIEMENS AG 30 Aug 1972 [30 Aug 1971] 40275/72 Heading H2C An assembly comprises a conductive member 2 attached to a body 1 of a first insulating material and a quantity of a second insulating material 3 which is inorganic and track resistant compared to the first material, the conductive member and first and second insulating material being exposed to the atmosphere and so arranged that the shortest exposed path on the surface of the assembly between conductive member 2 and body 1 lies along the second insulating material. The first insulating material may be organic resin with inorganic filler while the second material may be porcelain, earthenware, steatite, ceramic, glass, devitrified glass, or inorganic enamel or varnish. The second insulating material may be applied to the first material as a coating applied by dipping, spraying or brushing. The insulator may be a pin type, a strain type, an instrument transformer insulator and and an insulator in switchgear.
