Abstract

1408243 Photo-conductive composition PITNEY-BOWES Inc 22 May 1973 [8 June 1972] 24234/73 Heading G2C A photo-conductive composition comprises a photo-conductive charge transfer complex consisting of a Lewis acid and a carbazolyl compound in a carbazolyl polymer as binder. The ratio of the Lewis acid to the carbazolyl compound and that of the complex to the carbazolyl polymer are specified. In the embodiments the Lewis acid is preferably trinitrofluorenone and the carbazolyl compound is N-phenyl carbazole or dicarbazolyl cylcobutane but many others are specified. The binder is preferably poly-N-vinyl carbazole other carbazole polymers being specified. The composition may be coated on aluminized polyethylene terephthalate to give an electro-photographic element.
