Abstract
1408003 Separating sheet material from air stream EASTERN CYCLONE INDUSTRIES INC 3 Nov 1972 50840/72 Heading BIT [Also in Division B8] Fibrous sheet material conveyed in a pneumatic conveying system is separated from the conveying air by an outlet station 1 wherein the air is separated in two separate successive steps. Air-conveyed material arrives via duct 10 from the feed station and is fed first into a preseparation chamber 20 comprising an outer imperforate casing, preferably circular, and an inner perforated shell 2, also preferably circular. The diameter of the outer casing may increase in the direction of flow whilst the diameter of the inner shell remains constant. From 20% to 80% of the conveying air is removed in this chamber. The material and remaining air then passes into separation chamber 30 comprising a housing 11 having bottom doors 12 for removal of separated material. Air escapes through upper perforated screen 16. The air flows from the two separation chambers are recombined in duct 25 and permitted to escape directly to the atmosphere. Valve 18 controls the amount of air removed in the preseparation chamber.
