Abstract

1358706 Separation of bulky material from air EASTERN CYCLONE INDUSTRIES Inc 17 Nov 1971 53446/71 Heading BIT [Also in Division B8] A perforated housing 20, into which bulky material, such as laundry or solid industrial waste, is conveyed by air through conduit 1, is contained within outer housing 10 from which the air, separated from the bulky material, is exhaused through conduit 2, and the bulky material is periodically discharged through sealing doors 7-8 and 3-4, additional doors 18-19 being provided, within housing 20, to prevent jamming of doors 7-8 by the bulky material. Doors 18-19 preferably contain perforations 9. Housing 10 is connected to housing 30 wherein a valve 35 enables lower compartment 16 to be connected to the atmosphere while the upper compartment 17 is maintained at a different pressure, e.g. sub-atmospheric. The three pairs of doors oscillate on axes, and are actuated, e.g. by air cylinders, controlled by a timing mechanism so that doors 7-8 and 3-4 are never open simultaneously and doors 18-19 are closed at least during the closing step of doors 7-8. The doors are shown as double doors, but each may be replaced by a single door.
