Abstract

1407501 Transformer PROCESS AUTOMATION Ltd and DUNHILL LIGHTERS Ltd 20 Feb 1973 [9 Feb 1972] 5981/72 Heading HIT An embodiment of a transformer comprises a bobbin 3 with a flange 14 at one end of its body 13 and a flange member 5 arranged to fit the body 13 and provide a flange intermediate the ends of the body. As shown, the flange member 5 is a bobbin having a body portion 18, but it may be a simple washer. Preformed primary and secondary windings 6, 4 are assembled on the former together with a paper washer 7, the whole being enclosed between MnZn ferrite core parts 1, 2. The parts of the former and core are secured together by adhesive and the whole may be potted in epoxy resin. A high voltage lead 20 passes through gaps 15 and 11. In a further embodiment (Fig. 7, not shown) the flanges of the former are internal of the body and external fixing flanges are provided. The former is made from glass-filled nylon. The transformer which may be used in the ignition circuit of a smoker's lighter of the kind disclosed in Specification 1,404,321, may provide a 7 KV pulse from a 30 V input.
