Abstract

1386077 Inductors CHEW SENG KOH 19 June 1972 [9 July 1971] 32413/71 Heading H1T A choke comprises a casing 1 open at one end, and an E-shaped core structure having a base, two outer limbs and a central limb 5 which carries a winding, the outer limbs being formed from laminations 3 which are bent to provide both limb and base members, and the core and winding being disposed in the casing so that the core base is remote from the open end of the casing. The laminations may be held together by gluing, welding, bolting or clamping, and padding between core and casing may be provided. Prior to assembly, resin may be placed in the casing, this subsequently surrounding the inductor at 2. Compression of a pad 4 varies an effective air gap in the core. Various core arrangements are disclosed (Figs. 3a-3h, not shown) and core-closing laminations 7 may or may not be provided.
