Abstract

1407243 Loud-speakers; cross-over networks ELEKTROAKUSZITIKAI GYAR 15 Aug 1972 [16 Aug 1971] 37977/72 Headings H4J and H4X A loud-speaker system (Fig. 2) comprises a housing accommodating a low frequency loudspeaker unit 4 and a high frequency sound radiator as claimed in claim 1 of Specification 1,310,165. As shown the high frequency sound radiator comprises eight high frequency loudspeaker units 6. Alternatively it may comprise four high frequency loud-speaker units 6 (Fig. 6, not shown). The distance 8 between the loud-speaker unit 1 and the furthermost loud-speaker unit 6 is not greater than 1À5 times the diameter of the loud-speaker unit 4. Part of the high frequency radiator is preferably faced by a perforated baffle 11 (Fig. 7) preferably covered with sound transmitting textile or silk. The loud-speaker units 4 and 6 (Fig. 14) have individual filters 20 to provide a cross-over arrangement, individual level controls 21 and individual power amplifiers 22. An input network 14, common level control 15 and frequency compensating arrangement 16 are also provided. The compensating arrangement 16 allows adjustment of the response below and above the cross-over frequency (Fig. 15, not shown). Tone control may be provided by a series or parallel arrangement of a resistor, capacitor and inductance.
