Abstract

1406209 Vice R P LAMBERT 21 March 1974 [23 March 1973] 12683/74 Heading B3B A vice comprises a body portion 5, a fixed jaw 6 on the body portion, a slide guide 16 on the body portion, a slide 17 slidably movable along the guide means 16, a turret 30 rotatably mounted on the slide 17 and having a plurality of jaw surfaces 31 selectively co-operable with the fixed jaw 6 for gripping an article, a screw 33 having a tapered head 34 connecting the turret 30 to the slide 17 for said rotatable mounting of the turret, and an angularly displaceable actuating lever 41 connected to the screw 33 for turning the screw for locking or releasing the turret. The body portion 5 may be rotatably mounted on a base 1 and clamped thereon by a screw which engages with a groove 9 of the base. The turret 30 may be located in its selected position by a spring biased finger 35 which is received in a bore in the turret. As the lever 41 is displaced a cam surface is engaged to automatically retract the finger 35. The slide 17 is moved by rotating a threaded shaft 20 which engages with a threaded bronze sleeve 26.
