Abstract

1,113,743. Drilling machine workholder. KENARD ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. 12 Dec., 1966 [6 May, 1966], No. 20164/66. Headings B3B and B3C. Work-holding means for a drilling or like machine having an upright pillar comprises a first lever member 1 having a ring 2 adapted to encircle the pillar with slight clearance for sliding movement thereon, a further lever member 16 pivotally connected to the first lever and having a foot 31 arranged to clamp a workpiece on the machine table, a manuallyoperated cam arrangement 14, 18, 19, 23, 24 being provided which operates simultaneously on the two levers 1, 16 to cause the ring 2 to tilt and thereby to clamp the lever 1 on th pillar and to cause the lever member 16 to pivot on the lever 1 to depress the foot 31 into clamping engagement with the workpiece. The first lever member 1 has an extension 7 which fits telescopically in an arm portion 3. An adjustable stop may be fitted on the pillar to determine the clamping position of the ring where repeated clamping operations are to be carried out. The work-holding lever arrangement may be mounted on a special pillar therefor, suitably fixed to the work-table.
