A device for clamping workpieces W on drilling-machine &c. tables comprises a clamping-arm 6 vertically-adjustable on an upright 2 on the worktable 1, and a cam 7a for pressing the free end 6b of the arm 6, or a member supported thereon, against the work. The arm 6 is pivoted on a bracket 4 clamped by a screw 12 to the post 2 of a bench-drill, or to a pillar attached to the work-table. An upper limb 6a on the arm is engaged by the cam 7a and rocks the arm to clamp the work upon rotation of the cam-lever 10, which may be secured adjustably to the cam to compensate for wear. A work-engaging tubular-member 8, through which the drill passes, may be serrated or otherwise roughened at the lower end and is recessed at 8a to facilitate observation of the drill. V-notches 8b may be provided for engaging tubular work, or alternatively, anglemembers can be welded to the end of a member 8 detachably mounted on the arm 6 which is pivoted against the action of a spring 9. In the construction of Fig. 4, a cam surface 18c on the end of the pivoted arm 18 rocks the arm through contact with a horizontal hand-lever 21. In other constructions, e.g. Fig. 6, the arm 23 slides bodily on the bracket 25 or on the drill post and is operated by a cam pivoting about a vertical or horizontal axis 24. As shown in Fig. 10, the cam 42a may displace the work-engaging element 41 relatively to the arm 38 to clamp the work.
