Abstract

1405647 Cooking-bags COLGATEPALMOLIVE CO 22 Dec 1972 [9 June 1972] 59322/72 Heading A4D [Also in Division B8] A cooking-bag 11 comprises a body 12 having walls made of thin, flexible, heat-resistant, transparent film, and a deformable metal-foil band which is used for closing the bag and is bonded to the film surface by a flexible bonding layer (18), Fig. 5 (not shown), resistant to oven temperatures. After insertion into the bag of, for example, a piece of meat (19), Fig. 4 (not shown), the open end 16 of the bag may be twisted or folded to form a closure joint (21), Fig. 4 (not shown). The band 17 shown comprises a single strip which extends approximately the width of the open end 16 and has a width W greater than the circumference of the closure joint (21) enabling the band to wrap completely around the closure joint at least once in for example a helical configuration. The cooking bag (11) of Fig. 7 (not shown), has a band (17) which comprises a single strip extending transverse to the open end (16) and having a dimension (L) greater than the circumference of the closure joint formed in use of the bag. The cooking bag of Fig. 6, (not shown), has a band comprising three separate strips (17a), each strip having a dimension (L) greater than the circumference of the closure joint formed in use of the bag. The body 12 of the bag may be formed from a rectangular plastics film which is folded and heat-sealed to form the edges 13, 14 and the end 15. A band comprising a single strip or several separate strips may be provided on each side of the bag.
