Abstract

1,177,165. Cooking in synthetic resinous bags. DOW CHEMICAL CO. 29 Aug., 1967 [28 Sept., 1966], No. 39437/67. Heading A4D. [Also in Division B8] A foodstuff is prepared by placing it within a flexible pouch made of polypropylene or irradiated polyethylene, sealing the bag and placing it in a body or liquid, preferably boiling water, from which heat is transferred to the food-stuff, wherein the bag is made from film which is non- shrinking in boiling water and grease resistant and has a manually operable and resealable closure which comprises a groove on one panel of the bag and a tongue on an opposed panel such that the tongue and groove interlock to provide a hermetic seal.
