Abstract

1353471 Container closures BRITISHAMERICAN TOBACCO CO Ltd 7 Oct 1971 [19 Oct 1970] 49565/70 Heading B8C A flexible pouch 10, Figs. 1 and 2 has an openable closure 13 comprising a closure element inserted in or laid over an opening Figs. 1, 2 and 4 in the pouch with at least one edge part 12 of the opening being folded inwardly or outwardly and a seal for detachably sealing the one edge part of the opening by adhesion to at least one overlapping edge part 14 of the closure element the peel strength of the seal being low compared with the strength of the material from which the pouch is formed. The closure element may be formed from two strips, Figs. 1 and 2 or from a folded-over strips, Fig. 4 and Fig. 3 (not shown). In Fig. 5 (not shown), the closure element is integral at one edge of the opening, and in Fig. 6 is formed integrally with outwardly turned folds of the pouch, the crests 19 of which are subsequently removed. In other arrangements Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), the pouches are produced in multiple units.
