Abstract

1,125,189. Fastenable bag. MINIGRIP EUROPE A.S. 7 Dec., 1966 [11 Dec., 1965], No. 54744/66. Heading B8K. [Also in Divisions B5 and E2] Laminated packaging material comprises a first sheet of heat-sealable plastics material having formed on one face thereof parallel interengageable male and female closure elements, and a second sheet of plastics material, which is gas-impermeable, extending over the other face of the first sheet, at least between said closure elements. The heat-sealable sheet suitably extends beyond the other sheet, so that it may be readily welded to form a bag which, when opened, may be closed again by interlocking the male and female closure elements. The heat-sealable sheet beyond the gas-impermeable sheet may have thinner bands to facilitate opening of the bag. The opening of the closure elements may be facilitated by having tabs associated with them. The heat-sealable layer may be polyethylene, whilst the other layer is suitably regenerated cellulose or polypropylene. The polyethylene may be coated with a sealing varnish where it extends beyond the other layer.
