Abstract

1405354 Carburetters SOC INDUSTRIELLE DE BREVETS ET D'ETUDES 7 Aug 1973 [20 Sept 1972] 37354/73 Heading F1B An I.C. engine carburation device comprises main and auxiliary carburetters 9, 10 with throttles 15, 16 and float chambers 7, 8, throttle 16 opening only when throttle 15 has opened by a predetermined amount, the float chambers 7, 8 being supplied by pump 3 via a common passage 4 which is connected to the auxiliary carburetter 10 via a valve 17 which is open only when the fuel pressure upstream of it is high enough. The common passage 4 is connected to the main carburetter 9 without the intervention of a valve. When the engine is started after fuel in the float chambers has evaporated, valve 17 is closed so fuel passes only to float chamber 7, until needle 13 reduces the flow causing the pressure of fuel reaching valve 17 to rise enough to lift point 23 from its seat. This allows the engine to be started more quickly than if fuel were supplied simultaneously to both carburetters from the beginning.
