Abstract

1405276 Presser foot UNION SPECIAL MACHINE CO 28 Nov 1972 [29 Nov 1971] 54858/72 Heading D1G A presser foot comprises first and second sole plates 55, 56 pivoted on a pivotable support arm 32, the second plate 56 being movable in a direction perpendicular to the sole plate. The arm 32 is pivoted at 28 to a housing 22 secured to presser bar 16, one end of the arm being pivoted at 37 to an adjustable member 36 biassed by a spring 42 to urge the sole plates the work or on to an adjustable stop (45, Fig. 5 not shown). Nuts 43, 44 on member 36 limit movement of 32 in the opposite direction. The other end of arm 32 receives a pivot pin 54 extending through a hole 60 in a lug 58 on plate 55 and through an open notch 66 in a lug 65 on plate 56, the plates being free to pivot and plate 56 being free to move vertically upwards against the action of springs 68. The downward movement of plate 56 is limited by the abutment of posts 70 and 62. A spring 71 abuts the rear of the plates to maintain them horizontal.
