Abstract

1489111 Tufting machine SINGER CO 7 Jan 1975 [13 June 1974] 568/75 Heading D1G In a tufting machine having needles 28 selectively coupled to a needle bar 24 and stop means 152 against which unselected needles are urged by springs 156 the stop is adjustable to correspond with changes of the height of the work support 52 and of the stroke of the needle bar required to change the tuft height. The stop adjustment comprises a worm device 158 for each stop support screw 160, the devices being coupled by torque tubes to operate together. Indicia 164 are provided for the adjustment worm 162. Similar devices (64-70 Fig. I not shown) adjust the work support. The stroke is adjustable by a slotted crank device (102) which does not change the lower position of the needle bar. Needle selection by a pattern control (not described) de-energises a solenoid (144) to allow spring 148 to engage a latch pin 114 in a recess 116 in a needle carrier 26 slidably mounted in the needle bar 24.
