Abstract

1401300 Current distribution tracks NOKIA AB OY 5 Sept 1972 [6 Sept 1971 (2)] 41107/72 Heading H2E A power distribution conduit comprises a channel shaped metal support rail 1 having a base and opposed side walls and an insulating strip 9 extending along the base between the walls and carrying current conductors 11, 12, each conductor having an exposed surface facing away from the strip and towards the side walls. Flanges 7, 8 support the strip 9 and flanges 4, 5 are located at the mouth of the channel to support gripping fingers of a plug (not shown) for the conduit. An earthing strip 6 is mounted in the track or may alternatively be carried by the strip 9. Polarization is achieved by an asymmetric projection 13 on the strip, or by a projection on the rail, or by mounting the strip 9 nearer to one of the side walls. Lengths of conduit may be jointed end-to-end by a connecting element 34 and coupling elements 32, 33. The connecting element 34 comprises a block 31 consisting of a hollow casing (44) and a lid (50), each side wall having apertures 35, 36, 37, each aperture being associated with a respective socket contact with the socket contacts of the apertures of the same reference numeral on each face being interconnected by elements (45, 46, 47) Fig. 9, (not shown). Apertures 38, 39, 40 in the lid (50) receive pin contacts of a mains connecting element 34 for connection with the elements (45, 46, 47). Each coupling element 32 has pin contacts 41, 42, 43 compatible with the apertures 35, 36, 37 and which extend rearwardly as contact clips (58, 59), 60 within an insulating part 56. In use the part 56 is inserted into the end of the rail, clips (58, 59), 60 mating with the conductors 11, 12, 6 and elements 32 are interconnected with a block 31 to form a joint. Joints are strengthened by a cruciform sheet metal plate (64, Figs. 11, 12, not shown), the sides of each cruciform arm being bent to form guides (70) into which the ends of a rail can be inserted and retained by a spring (67).
