1401283 Formwork for concrete floors &c RAPID METAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 20 Oct 1972 [11 Nov 1971] 52459/71 Heading E1S Concrete floor slabs are cast on form panels supported by props and beams, a pair of beams being connected to each prop by a head comprising upper and lower parallel support plates 11, 12 interconnected by a member, e.g. a tube 13, for fitting on the upper end of a prop, and also interconnected by a pair of bars 17 on opposite sides of the tube 13, a beam-supporting element 18 being slidably mounted on each bar 17 and supported by a locking element 20 which is engageable with the bar 17 to support the beam-supporting element 18 at a raised position and releasable to allow it to be lowered to the position shown. In use, the upper surface of the upper plate 11 is part of the form surface, and is co-planar with the form surfaces of beams carried by the elements 18 in the raised positions and with the form surfaces of panels carried by the beams; after the cast concrete has partially hardened, the locking elements 20 are released to allow the elements 18, beams and panels to be lowered, leaving the slab supported by the props and heads, whilst the beams and panels are removed for re-use. The locking elements 20 are plates having keyhole-shaped apertures engageable with grooves 22 in the bars 17, the elements 18 have beam-engaging corner projections 19, and the tube 13 has internal axial ribs. Use with top-hat-section beams is described.
