Abstract
1400606 Luggage manufacture J RIOU and PSILVESTRI 6 July 1972 31830/72 Heading A4G [Also in Divisions B5 and B8] In a process for making bodies of valises, attache cases and containers having a body section, a bottom and a lid, the body section is formed from a plastics band 1, Fig. 2 cut to the length of the perimeter of the container, shaped by heating and bending around formers 3 and having its ends joined e.g. by tenons and grooves 1c, 1d which are interlocked and stuck or welded and the bottom and lid are joined to the body section there being correspondingly shaped edges on the body section and lid which mate on closing the container. The lid C, Fig. 4 is formed in a similar way and may have an edge groove which co-operates with an edge groove formed on the band or on a throat 2 tenoned as in Fig. 4, or stitched, welded or stuck to the inside of the band or integral therewith. The throat may be of aluminium. The lid and body section may have edge to edge engagement or the lid engage around the body section. A space may be provided between the lid and body section edges to accomodate a covering material.
