Abstract

1398826 Turbine rotor blades-cooling MOTOREN-UND TURBINEN-UNION MUNCHEN GmbH 26 June 1973 [27 June 1972] 30433/73 Heading FIT An unshrouded turbine rotor blade is formed with at least one duct for the flow of coolant fluid, the flow duct discharging into a recess formed at the blade tip which constitutes a rubbing blade tip, the blade tip being so formed that the coolant fluid is discharged with a reactive driving effect. The blade shown is formed with coolant fluid ducts 10 which open into a recess 13 formed at the blade tip, the recess being defined by a wall 11 the edge 12 of which is disposed adjacent the inner surface 15 of the stator casing 16. An opening 20 is formed in the wall 11 on the concave surface of the blade through which the coolant fluid discharges so exerting a reactive turning effect. In a second embodiment the wall of the recess at the concave side of the blade tip is removed and the wall at the convex side is bent over the recess so that the coolant fluid discharging from the blade tip is guided by the wall. The blade tip rotates within an annular groove formed in the inner surface of the stator casing.
