Abstract
1396947 Transformers SUPERFLEXIT 26 July 1972 [27 July 1971] 35038/72 Heading HIT A compensator for compensating for the expansion of a liquid in a rigid container comprises a liquid-tight envelope formed from a polymer of epichlorohydrin, filled with a gas (e.g. nitrogen) under a pressure of, or slightly above, atmospheric pressure. Polyepichlorohydrin, an epichlorohydrin-ethylene oxide copolymer, or a mixture of the two may be used. The envelopes may be made by welding the walls of a tube together at intervals, and cutting across the welds to form pillow-shaped bags. Alternatively, they may be cylindrical with hemispherical end-portions. It is stated that the compensators can withstand pressure variations of 15 bars at frequencies of the order of 1 Hz.
