Abstract

To combat uncontrolled surges of liquid, a cellular material e.g. polyester and inert to the fluid in the tanker is used to partly fill the volume of the tanker. The inert material can be part penetrated by the liquid. The tanker volume can be filled with the material to different percentages depending on the fluid conveyed and whether the tanker travels only partly filled. Other variations and configurations are also described. Typical fluids are butane and propane at >1 atm.
