Abstract

When the tanks of a vessel are not completely filled, swaying of the vessel due to wave movement can cause dangerous movement of the contents of the tanks, partic. when they contain liquefied gas at low temps. The contents are therefore caused to rotate by a pump immersed in the liq. or by an external pump with suction and discharge lines terminating inside the tank, the resulting swirling imparting stability to the liquefied gas.
