1464612 Submerged storage tank GEORGE WIMPEY M E & C Ltd 16 May 1975 [22 May 1974] 22900/74 Heading E1H A petroleum storage tank arranged to sit on a sea-bed with a platform 16 thereabove, comprises an inner vessel 11, and an outer vessel 13 at least partially surrounding it to define a space 14 to contain a fluid, e.g. water, and monitors 22a-c connected to pumps 21a-c for detecting leakage from the inner vessel. The monitors can be connected to alarms. The vessels and space therebetween can be compartmented. The vessels can be made from concrete, metal or plastics.
