Abstract

1472483 Offshore platforms S HEIEN 27 March 1975 [29 Nov 1974] 12960/75 Heading E1H An offshore oil production platform comprises a foundation formed by a plurality of tanks 3 at least one of which is divided into a plurality of compartments 4 and 5, and wherein the peripheral wall of the tank 3 is of insufficient thickness to withstand the full water pressure in the submerged state. and the peripheral wall of at least one of the compartments 4 and 5 is adapted to withstand the full water pressure. The compartments 4 are extended by sections 6 and 8 to a telescopic support for a column 9 having platforms 15 and 17. In use, the platform is floated to a site, the tanks 3 are filled with water until they are submerged, and then the compartments 4 are filled to submerge the foundation to the sea bed. A flap 11 is lowered to prevent scouring.
