A submerged fluid storage tank has a plurality of anchorage points such as 9, 9a, 9b, each tethered to an anchorage such as 8, 8a, 8b, and a rotatable ring 3 is mounted on the tank and has corresponding anchorage points such as 10b, 10c,10d connected to the anchorages, relative rotation between the ring and the tank varying the angle between cables leading to the same anchorage and raising or lowering the tank. The anchorages may be screwed into the sea bed and consolidated with grouting, or may comprise tubes driven into the sea bed and their lower ends opened out by explosive, or may be formed by a concrete caisson (Fig. 7, not shown). The tank may be open at the bottom, or vented (Fig. 8, not shown) and as described is surmounted by a pontoon roof 2 which can be filled with water or air. The tank is submerged by relatively rotating the ring and the tank by two ships steaming away from the tank in opposite directions, each suitably attached by cables to the ring and the tank.
