Abstract

1,186,499. Marine platforms. S.T.O. SOC. TRASPORTI ED OLEODOTTI S.p.A. 13 Feb., 1969 [16 April, 1968], No. 7752/69. Heading E1H. A marine platform comprises a stationary structure (consisting of piles 1 driven into the sea bed and supporting a cylindrical wall 4 and a platform 3 above the sea surface) and a floating platform 9 carrying bitts 15, 16 for vessel mooring, water-tight hollow bodies 13 being fast therewith and provided with valves and pumps selectively operable to introduce thereinto and discharge therefrom sea water to adjust the level of the platform and to submerge same in rough weather, rollers 11 on the platform 9 engaging the wall 4 of the stationary structure to prevent transverse movement of the platform whilst allowing vertical movement and rotation around the said structure.
