Abstract

Partly submerged maritime works or contruction for use as a hydrocarbon storage system, comprising at least one each of the following items: a caisson forming the hydrocarbon reservoir, a hydrocarbon feed pipe terminating in the upper part of the reservoir, a water feed pipe terminating in the lower part thereof, a pump sump connected to the reservoir by a delivery line which can be closed by a valve, and installed at a height at least equal to the level of the quantity of hydrocarbon necessary to form a ballast sufficient to ensure stability of the construction and a pump situated at the bottom of each sump and provided with a discharge pipe. In partic. the reservoir is provided with at least one valve-controlled channel passing through the caisson wall.
