Abstract

139,693. Mills, T. J., and Morris, E. T. May 19, 1919. Printing-surfaces.-The cylinders of rotary machines adapted to carry an edition plate or seal of various lengths is fitted with one or more yieldingly raised driving-bars or stops which may be readily depressed flush with the surface of the cylinder to permit of the use of longer plates or different arrangements. The bar or stop 2 is flanged to engage an undercut recess on the cylinder 1 and is normally projected therefrom by a spring 3, but is depressed flush with the surface of the cylinder when the plate, owing to its length or arrangement, must extend over it. The bar is held against end movement by a block 4 held by a screw 5. The side edges of the plate are held as usual between an undercut ring 8 on the cylinder and spring-pressed dogs engaging recesses in the sides of the cylinder.
