Abstract

1395973 Rolling mills SCHLOEMANN AG 6 Oct 1972 [12 Oct 1971] 46199/72 Heading B3M Each of the work rolls 2 and 3 of a four-high mill is provided with a cleaning brush 10 or 11 pivotally carried around the necks of the adjacent backing roll 8 or 9. Each brush is supported at its ends by rings 14 (Fig. 1) surrounding the necks of a backing roll. The rings have external teeth which enable them to be rotated by pinions 19 connected by a shaft 24. The pinions are rotated by cylinders 21, to move the brushes towards or away from the work rolls. Adjustable stops (Fig. 3, not shown) limit the movement of the brushes, but the stops may be made inoperative, to allow the work rolls to be removed from the mill.
