Abstract

1395787 Transport systems utilizing electromagnetic suspension or guidance for vehicles KRAUSS-MAFFEI AG 8 Aug 1972 [15 Sept 1971] 36958/72 Heading B7L A transport system comprises a vehicle 15 suspended by reaction between rails 16, con nected with a track 14, and electromagnets 5 attached to the vehicle, the rails 16 and the cores 6 of the magnets being of U-shaped crosssection with their lateral arms 2 and 12 overlapping one another, the arms 2 being within and inclined outwardly towards the arms 12. The system may also include guide means 19 not forming part of the invention. In a modification the suspension apparatus of the invention and guide means 19 take each other's place, the suspension apparatus acting as guide means and vice versa. The rails 16 and cores 6 may take other forms, i.e. the arms 2 being outside and inclined inwardly towards the arms 12, the arms 2 being either concave or convex in crosssection, and the arms 2 being parallel and at right angles to the rail base with the arms 12 within or outside arms 20, inclined outwardly or inwardly respectively.
