Abstract

1394827 Weft measuring IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES LTD 14 June 1972 [24 June 1971] 29586/71 Heading D1E Weft meausuring apparatus for a jet loom comprises feed rolls 3, 5 in contact to form a nip, the weft 33 being guided by eyes 19 on a pivotable arm 13, such that when weft is not being measured it lies alongside the rolls, and when meausuring commences, the arm 19 swings inwardly to introduce the weft between the nip. Arm 13 is biassed inwardly by a spring 31 acting through lever 27 and is controlled by an arm 25 actuated by the weft pattern mechanism, and a cam 1 acting through arms 7, 11, 15. The circumference of the low portion A on the cam determines the length of weft metered. When the weft is introduced between the nip, spring 31 has extended far enough to allow weft clamp 29 to open. The measured weft may be stored in a vacuum suction tube 35. Two wefts may be measured on the same set of rods, as shown, and more than one such meausuring device may be used on each loom. The measuring device may be combined with the weft selector described in Specification 1394826.
