Abstract

Carbazole is purified and obtained in well-defined crystals by slow dilution of its solution in concentrated sulphuric acid, this may be effected by exposing the solution to the atmosphere or other moist gas, with or without agitation, or by blowing air or other moist gas through the solution. The solution may first be diluted rapidly to a degree short of precipitation and then diluted slowly as described above.
