Abstract

1393559 Briquetting press COMBUSTION ENG Inc 27 Dec 1972 [29 Dec 1971] 59678/72 Heading B3H A briquetting press comprises an anvil 14 fixed on an end portion 16 of the press frame, a movable die and chip-box assembly, 12, 10, a ram 18 to compress metal chippings in the die 12 against the anvil and a trough 26 to receive the briquette, which is allowed to fall from the anvil, and direct it into a passage 38 in the frame portion 16. The trough is made of spaced parallel plates (28), Fig. 7 (not shown), which allow loose chippings to fall between them. The briquettes are pushed into the passage 38 by a comb-like structure 40, Figs. 3 and 4, mounted on the underside of the die and chip-box assembly 12, 10. The assembly and the ram are each moved by hydraulic motors for independent movement. Several briquetting presses may be arranged on alternate sides of a common conveyer belt (50), Fig. 10 (not shown).
