Abstract

1393512 Preventing swaying of loads FRIED KRUPP GmbH 23 March 1973 [24 March 1972] 14165/73 Heading B8B A hoist mounted on a crane carriage (not shown), comprises two cable drums 1, 2 having parallel axes of rotation and a common driving mechanism. Cables 17, 18 and 19, 20 run from the drums 1, 2 over respective pairs of rollers 8, 9 and 10, 11 (in the latter case passing over rollers 21 on the crane carriage). The cables 17, 18 pass over respective rollers 22 to anchorages 27, 28 on an equalizing lever 35, crossing over one another as they do so. The cables 19, 20 pass over similar rollers 22 to anchorages 29, 30 on a pendulum carrier 40. The rollers 8 to 11 and 22 are mounted on a plate 5 which carries a device 6 permitting rotation of a container carrying frame 4 about a vertical axis by means, not shown. The pairs of rollers 8, 9 and 10, 11 are mounted for rotation about respective parallel axes and pendulum oscillation of the carrier 4 in the direction of these axes constrains the rollers 8, 9 and 10, 11 of each pair to rotate in opposite directions. This opposite rotation is damped hydraulically to minimize the pendulum oscillation.
