Abstract

1389475 Delivering sheets IZDATELSTVO IZVESTIA SOVETOV DEPUTATOV TRUDYASCHIKHSYA SSSR 22 June 1972 [10 Sept 1971] 29232/72 Addition to 1341232 Heading B8R Newspapers 10 leaving the folder 8 of a webfed rotary press are directed by a deflector 13 to one of a pair of fly-type delivery drums 14. Beneath each drum is a hopper 16, 17 comprising a slotted, vertically movable base 28, 29. When a counted number of newspapers has been delivered to one hopper the deflector 13 directs newspapers to the other hopper while the base of the full hopper is moved downwardly at an accelerated rate to deposit the batch on to a take-away roller conveyer 40. Each delivery drum 14 comprises a pair of guiding discs 20, each disc having a set of circumferentially arranged rods 22 which are movable axially inwardly of the delivery drum under the control of cams 24 to effect registration of the newspapers as they approach the stack. Associated with each hopper is a two bladed rotary brush 42 which compresses the fold of each newspaper as it reaches the stack. The base members of the hoppers are carried on endless chains 32, 33, 34 and 35 driven from the drive of the delivery drums 14.
