Abstract

1333866 Folding sheets POLYGRAPH LEIPZIG KOMBINAT FUR POLYGRAPHISCHE MASCHINEN UND AUSRUSTUNGEN 29 April 1971 12027/71 Heading B8R A web 1, Fig. 1, delivered from a printing- machine, is folded longitudinally by a funneltype folder 2 and cut into sheets by a blade cylinder or beam 5, the sheets being passed round a cylinder 4 to be creased by flaps 10 cooperating with blades 9, and thence to a transverse folder. The sheets are curved round the cylinder by needles 7, Figs. 1 and 2, on shafts 20 and stripped therefrom by strippers 8 on shafts 26, under the control of a cam 22, Figs. 1, 2 and 4. A cam follower 21 is mounted on a lever 23 rotatable on each shaft 20 and is connected to the shaft through a compression spring 24 and a lever 2411 fixed on the shaft, while a similar arrangement controls the shafts 26. On receipt of a signal indicating a jam in the folder, or if it is desired to deliver the sheets without transverse folding, an hydraulic cylinder 15 moves guide-rods 12 inwards to divert the sheets to a blade wheel 16 and delivery belts 18, and at the same time moves a cam disc into the path of rollers 32, 34 which also control the shafts 20, 26.
