Abstract

1388671 Braking systems COVENTRY CLIMAX ENGINES Ltd 5 May 1972 [12 May 1971] 14491/71 Heading F2F A vehicle has a diesel engine 1 with a fuel supply controlled by goveners and a servoassisted braking system, the servo-unit 6 of which is connected directly to the intake manifold 2. The servo-unit 6 is activated for application of the brakes by a partial vacuum developed in the intake manifold upon actuation of a choke valve 3 which throttles air entering the intake manifold. The valve is connected directly to the accelerator control and the brake pedal the arrangement being such that the accelerator control can override any movement of the brake pedel. The valve may be a butterfly valve.
