Abstract

The device consists of an additional butterfly valve mounted between the carburettor and the inlet manifold. The butterfly plate (3) is mounted on the spindle (2) which is provided with a lever (6). This lever is attached by via a link (7) to the pull rod (10) of a solenoid (11). The solenoid is energised through a limit switch which is actuated by the accelerator pedal when it is in the slow running position. Thus when the vehicle slows down the fuel supply is completely cut off and in addition since the engine generates no power it acts as a brake and helps to reduce the vehicle speed still further.
