1387915 Tampons s INTERNATIONAL PLAYTEX CORP 16 May 1972 22961/72 Heading A5R A tampon comprises an absorbent elongated body including a plurality of cellulose-basematerial filaments disposed so as to provide relatively randomly-spaced areas therebetween, at least some of said filaments having voids therein and the voids and randomly spaced areas providing means for the retention of body fluids. The material may be selected from viscose rayon, nitrocellulose, cellulose acetates, ethyl cellulose rayon, and cuprammonium rayon.
