Abstract

A tampon comprises a spirally wound strip of absorbent material e.g. wadding, the strip having through holes extending approximately at right angles to the axis of the tampon and/or short cuts extending through the tampon and disposed in rows in planes passing through the axis of the tampon. The tampon is wrapped in gauze.
