Abstract

1385402 Cutting apparatus MO OCH DOMSJO AB 10 July 1972 [13 July 1971] 32210/72 Heading B4B [Also in Divisions B2 and D1] Bales of pulp sheets are fed to a knife 7 which cuts the sheets into strips, optionally the strips are shredded, and the cut material is opened in a defibrator 3. As shown, the bales 13 are advanced until they meet stop 9. The bales are then clamped and the knife 7 and the stop 9 are reciprocated vertically to cut strips from the leading edge of the bale. The cut strips are fed to a hammer mill or rotatable roll 2 for shredding the strips and then to a disc refiner, peg mill or hammer mill for defibrating the shredded material. The horizontal distance between the stop 9 and the knife 7 may be varied.
