Abstract

1384489 Coiling sliver SOC ALSACIENNE DE CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES DE MULHOUSE 17 Oct 1973 [26 Oct 1972] 48317/73 Heading D1F In a sliver coiler, with a cam 1 clamped between fixed and movable jaws 4 and 5 on a platform 2, an electric motor (not shown) drives through chain and sprocket 39, "synchronising" shaft 31, worms 32, 32A, and worm wheels 34, 34A, to rotate crank discs 21, 21A, which transmit by arms 28, 28A, a translatory motion to platform 2 on a circular path of radius determined by the cranks formed by adjustably positionable gudgeons 26, 26A, balls 14 on which platform 2 rests rolling around the bases of fixed shallow bowls 15. When a full cam is to be replaced, an electro-magnetic catcher system 45 ensures that the platform 2 steps in position shown at 2A in readiness for receipt of exchange cam 1B.
