Abstract

1382655 Stud fasteners ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc 28 March 1972 [1 April 1971] 14539/72 Heading F2H A stud member 10 has a portion 12 having peripheral protuberances, for example right and left handed threads 20, 22, encapsulated within an adhesive 24, for example an epoxy resin. After insertion of the encapsulated portion 12 into a hole in a workpiece, heat is applied to portion 12 causing the adhesive 24 to lock the stud member 10 in position, the adhesive 24 initially flowing to cover the underside of a flange 16. A stud portion 14 may be threaded as shown or may be smooth.
