Abstract

1382555 Magnetic garnet THOMSON-CSF 28 March 1973 [31 March 1972] 15007/73 Heading C1J A polycrystalline ferrimagnetic material of garnet structure has the general formula where 0À5<x#0À8, 0<y#0À12, 0<z#0À4, and e is close to 0 (residual lack of stoichiometry). The examples illustrate many compositions where x varies from 0À6 to 0À8, z from 0À2 to 0À4 and y from 0À02 to 0À12. The material may be prepared by mixing the raw materials, crushing in water, drying, screening, firing in an oxidizing atmosphere at 1150-1250‹ C. for ¢-2 hours, again crushing, drying and screening, mixing with organic binder, further drying and screening, pressing at 1 ton/cm.<SP>2</SP> and finally sintering at 1350-1500‹ C. in an oxidizing atmosphere.
