Abstract

1,216,675. Magnetic compositions. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 27 May, 1968 [2 June, 1967], No. 25592/67. Heading H1H. Sr ferrite containing Sr 3 (PO 4 ) 2 , e.g. in amounts of 0À01-3% by wt., is prepared by adding Sr 3 (PO 4 ) 2 to the starting materials, which may be Fe 2 O 3 and SrCO 3 with minor amounts of CaF 2 and Al 2 O 3 . The mixture may be dried, calcined at 1260‹ C., ball-milled in water with a surfactant to below 1Á, wet pressed at 3 tons/inch<SP>2</SP> in a magnetic field of 8000 Oe., dried, and sintered. Sintering temperatures of 1230‹ C. or 1200‹ C. give a Br of 4160 or 3890 G and an H c of 3900 or 4325 Oe, respectively.
