1382457 Planning machine MARUNAKA TEKKOSHO Inc 29 June 1972 30386/72 Heading B5L A wood planing machine, Fig. 1, comprises a fixed stock-guide table 2 and a pressure feed unit 6 adapted to contact wood stock 100 and feed it in sliding contact with the table 2. The table 2 includes turntable 62, Fig. 7, carrying a fixed blade 64 so that the angle of cutting of the blade relative to the stock feed can be varied. The unit 6, Fig. 1, and a drive motor 7 therefor are resiliently supported above the table 2 so as to allow for variations in the stock thickness As described the unit 6 includes a driven pulley and an idler pulley supporting a belt 31 the lower run of which lies against resiliently mounted rollers. The unit 6 and the motor 7 are mounted in balance on opposite sides of a slide 5, Fig. 6, which is vertically slidable on pillars 3a, 3b fixed to the table 2. The vertical position of the slide is varied by rotating a handle 40 which via gearing 39, 41 rotates a shaft 44 threadedly engaged with a sleeve 50. The sleeve 50 is non-rotatably supported by a spring 52 within a part of the slide 5 to provide the resilient support for the unit 6. A scale 53 indicates the height of the belt 31 above the table 2, and another scale indicates the angular position of the turntable 62, Fig. 7. Guide dogs 79, 79a locate the wood stock relative to the feed belt and cutting blade. A number of machines may be arranged in series with their tables 2 lying in a common plane.
